Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne
Les Lalannes are a married couple and artist duo, Francois-Xavier Lalanne and Claude Lalanne. While Francois-Xavier favored sculpting animal themes, Claude preferred vegetation. In the latest book of their work and world, Lalanne, features photographs by Paul Kasmin. In the introduction to the book, he wrote:" The first time I went to visit the Lalanne was for lunch. I remember leaving Paris and driving about an hour to arrive at a rather pretty, silent village with old stone farmhouses. After going through a pair of large wooden gates, I immediately entered the world of Les Lalanne. A lively combination of family, animals, and craftsmen filled the courtyard with activity. Right away, it was apparent that the entire property was alive with work." As I myself have a very symbiotic relationship between my work and my lifestyle, so do the Lalanne, and as Francois-Xavier said "the supreme art is the art of living." I couldn't agree more.
