Khan Academy

APRIL 2011

Khan AcademyLearn almost anything for free

This is just so amazing! I love this site! http://khanacademy.org, a non-profit, offers 2,100 free educational videos. Anyone anywhere can choose to learn about arithmetic, physics, finance and history. After perusing the many choices, I can't wait to learn more about Finances, the French Revolution and a fun Brain Teaser sounds pretty great as well.

Watch this TED video about Salman Khan, the founder of the Khan Academy.

SEPTEMBER 2009

To raise awareness of the horrifying amount of plastic floating in the North Pacific Gyre, an enormous 'garbage patch' caught up in the swirling Pacific Ocean currents and estimated to be the size of Texas, The Plastiki, a catamaran made with twelve thousand plastic bottles, sailed from San Francisco to Sidney. They arrived on July 26th 2010, after four months and much press covering their effort. To learn more and show your support, go to theplastiki.com

In addition, junkraft.com also made a journey and were very successful at educating many along their route about the North Pacific Gyre.
